Akami, also called Deep Sea Glutton, is a legendary creature that appears in the Dream 9 Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z Super Collaboration Special.
Anatomy
The Akami in its most basic form resembles a round little fish with red skin, tiny pink lips, two small fins and several white tentacles coming from behind it. This along with the sweet sounding bird-like chirps it makes gives it a very innocent appearance. However when ready to feed, the Akami will open its mouth wide to reveal its sharp fangs and extend its tentacles while letting out a fearsome roar. The more it feeds on food and the life force of others the larger and more intimidating its body becomes until it turns into monstrous serpent-like entity with engorged tentacles, wing-like fins and dark red skin.
Behavior
The Akami at first glance appears to be a passive and cutesy creature, but in actuality it is a voracious and ferocious being that will devour anything around it and will show its true ferocity and bare its fangs when ready to feed, truly making its title of "Deep Sea Glutton" fitting. It lives deep beneath the seas around the island where the World's Best Eating Tournament was held.
Powers and Abilities
The Akami has the unique ability of absorbing the life energies out of living creatures using its tentacles and it can siphon out these energies in only a matter of seconds while at the same time transferring a powerful venom into its victims to ensure they do not fight back. This venom can be potentially fatal after 30 minutes if not treated with an antidote made from the Akami. Even in its most basic form, the Akami's tentacles are strong and fast enough to constrict a teenage Saiyan and poison one with its venom as well. Even Coco, a Gourmet Cell user with an incredibly enhanced immune system was unable to resist the paralyzing effects of its venom. The more energy it absorbs the larger and more powerful it becomes and its overall body shape also changes to monstrous proportions and it gains incredible strength and power, especially if its victims were strong themselves.
The Akami is a quite fast and agile in its smaller sizes, capable of dodging hits from fast fighters before its size began to grow. It also has superb defense especially after absorbing energy from two Humans and a Saiyan, as it was able to endure and brush off powerful attacks from powerful fighters such as Piccolo, Sunny and Sanji and was easily able to subdue them in combat with its strong siphoning tentacles.
Techniques
- Energy Absorption: The Akami's most notable ability with which it can extract the life energies out of other living beings in order to enhance its own power.
- Flight: Like the Z Fighters, the Akami appears to posses the ability to float in midair without the aid of wings or propulsion, indicating that it possesses and is capable of manipulating ki.
- Ki Sense: The Akami was shown to be capable of locating the group eating the Carat Sizzled Cattle despite being deep beneath the sea, showing that it could detect their energies from far away. Also when it escaped the first time, Goku noted that he could not sense its ki, which suggests that the Akami is capable of suppressing its own ki to hide its presence.

Akami attacks Mr. Satan and Usopp
Akami is said to suck out the energy of living things. In order to lure Akami, the International Gourmet Organization organized a World's Best Eating Tournament (Tenkaichi Shokuōkai), a merciless race with no rules, on a certain island. This shocking truth was revealed by the IGO Director Mansam after Mr. Satan won the competition. While the champion serves up the championship prize, the luxuriously rare Carat Sizzled Cattle, to Luffy, Toriko, Goku, and their friends, the Deep Sea Glutton senses Luffy and the other's power. Akami appears from out of the depths of the sea. Goku, Luffy, Toriko may have to combine their powers in order to defeat this deadly monster.
