The Barag (バラッグ Baraggu) is a large flightless monster bird of the order Struthionidae and is one of the many creatures bred in the 1st Biotope.

The Barag is a large brown flightless bird resembling an ostrich, with a yellow neck, a cream beak with sharp teeth, powerful orange legs, and tan skin on top of its head.

It is feral and carnivorous creature that will attack on sight and always keeps a watchful eye out for potential prey to satisfy its very large appetite. It is known to inhabit forests and grasslands but is also bred in IGO biotopes.

Powers and AbilitiesEdit

It has good speed compared to other beasts with the same capture level. The long legs of this avian monster enable it to run more than 180 kilometers per hour. It also has very sharp eye sight with which to pursue prey.

As FoodEdit

Its meat is edible and makes a great meal, and 100 grams of it can fetch a price of 10,000 yen. However its true value lies in its delicious and large eggs. It lays eggs approximately 1,000 times larger than that of a typical chicken, so gluttons worldwide feast on Barag egg omelets. Just one of its eggs can fetch a price of 600,000 yen.

Regal Mammoth ArcEdit

After Rin and Toriko are thrown to the White Forest by a Rock Drum, they are immediately pursued by the forest's inhabitants. As Rin and Toriko are running from some Biguma, Rin is ambushed by a Barag. Toriko takes the beast out with one swift kick to its face.

Billion Bird ArcEdit

When Toriko, Komatsu, and the other Four Heavenly Kings are searching for Ichiryu's final treasure chest in the 1st Biotope, Toriko uses his enhanced sense of smell to locate it. He detects the scents of countless creatures and beings that had stepped on the soil, some of the steps were incredibly old. The oldest scent detected is that of a Barag which had passed by the area even before Ichiryu and Chichi. It is unknown if the Barag population still survives on the 1st Biotope after the fall of the Meteor Spice.
