Choco Cicadas are a breed of chocolate-loving cicadas that are well known for their irritating cry.
Description[]
When the weather warms up, these sweet toothed insects emerge from their underground abodes to hang out on sweet-sapped trees. Other kinds of cicadas remain in the larval stage for five to ten years, but the Choco Cicada spends a far longer time, twenty years, underground. It then lives above ground for about a month, which is also longer than normal cicada's life of seven to ten days.
Every year, when people hear the first Choco Cicada buzzing, it makes them anticipate the warm summer days ahead. Unfortunately, just like with everything else, the Choco Cicadas cries are two to three times more obnoxious than those of the normal cicada. This has gotten some inventors thinking of ways to utilize them in alarm clocks.
Anime and Manga Differences[]
The Choco Cicada's scene was excluded from the anime for unknown reasons, however it was featured in the official trading cards.
