The Desert Shark (デザートシャーク Dezātoshāku) is a rare species of desert-dwelling shark that swims in sand.
Anatomy[]

Desert Sharks are a large species of shark with brown-colored skin on their backs and dark brown spots, along with beige-colored underbellies. They are quite large, with a body length of at least 18 meters and their large size also endows them with an impressive weight of around 22 tons. They have rows of sharp teeth, long snouts, small beady black eyes, two dorsal fins on their backs and a spike-like fin near the top of their heads.

Desert Sharks mainly inhabit sandy deserts with intense heat. Desert Sharks mainly travel and attack in groups in order to overwhelm prey and can often be seen together in schools while "swimming" through the desert sands.
Powers and Abilities[]
Its teeth are coated with scorpion-like poison and its dorsal fin is sharp enough to cut through rock. Being a sandfish, Desert Sharks can effortlessly "swim" through sand as though it were water and they can also survive the intense heat of the sun without difficulty.
As Food[]
The meat from their bodies is too tough to chew, making it mostly inedible, however the dorsal fin of the Desert Shark is known as one of the desert's delicacies. Desert Shark dorsal fin is quite popular when it makes a rare appearance on the market and can be sold for around 700 million yen.
History[]
Mellow Cola Arc[]
A school of Desert Sharks first appear when they attack Zebra and Toriko while they are traveling through Sand Garden. Luckily the beasts are easily subdued by Zebra's powerful voice and Toriko convinces him not to kill them since they have no value as food.

In Toriko: Gourmet Survival 2 for the PSP, Desert Sharks appear in the Konamon Desert region as huntable enemies.

In Toriko: Gourmet Monsters for the 3DS, Desert Sharks appear as enemies in the Sand Garden. They can also be caught and tamed, and be trained for use in the Gourmet Royale beast bouts.
