The Eight-Headed Snail (ヤマタノツムリ Yamata no Tsumuri) is a giant Mollusk Beast located in the waters of the 1st Biotope.
Behavior[]
It is a carnivorous predator who preys on the Swamp Moray Eel, however it is itself part of the Crocodile Shark's diet. With its eight heads, this is one ferocious snail that attacks without mercy.
Powers and Abilities[]
It excretes a slime that can melt most near anything. It has a huge shell that it hides in if ever in danger. The shell is very tough and most human weapons are completely powerless against it. Catching this mega snail is pretty tough, but it's a bayou delicacy which makes catching it a worthwhile endeavor.
History[]
Regal Mammoth Arc[]
An Eight-Headed Snail is first seen by Komatsu and Sunny as they travel through the Swamp of Antiquity in the 1st Biotope. There they see it trying to eat a Swamp Moray Eel, but the Eight-Headed Snail is then quickly eaten by a Crocodile Shark.
Toriko's Return[]
When the Four Heavenly Kings are searching for the final ingredient in Ichiryu's Full Course Menu at the 1st Biotope, Toriko uses his heightened sense of smell to trace all the beings that were ever present within the 1st Biotope, in order to find Ichiryu's old scent and follow it to the ingredient's location. Among the countless scents he picks up, he detects the scent of an Eight-Headed Snail, although the scent appeared to be quite old. It is unknown if the Eight-Headed Snails survived the onslaught of the Meteor Spice that destroyed most of the Human World's resources.
Anime and Manga Differences[]
- For unknown reasons, the Eight-Headed Snail was replaced in the anime by the Snake Leech.
