Synopsis

Toriko tests out his new battle techniques - and his brand new arm - in a ferocious fistfight with the IGO President! Though his strength has improved, Toriko will need more training before he's ready for the Gourmet World!

Summary

Toriko went to Hotel Gourmet to fetch an item he wanted to give someone as a present. He lost himself in the food and totally forgot what he was there for, and while eating, talked with Komatsu about how Komatsu's cooking improved recently, associating it with the increased number of customers recently. "It's not just the soup, but all the cooking you made for them."

Meanwhile, at the Bishokukai's Castle, Alfaro interrupts Kuromado's meal asking him to hasten their hunt for the next meal as their boss wasn't satisfied with the Century Soup, marking a sign for the ultimate ingredient's upcoming appearance. "I suppose nothing will satisfy him, except it."

Toriko finally arrives at his destination, the IGO president, Ichiryu's house, and was greeted by his butler, Morton. Toriko mistakes an extremely rare energy arowana fish for food. "Oh, come on! It's not for eating?"

On the terrace, Toriko finally meets Ichiryu, and presents him with the gift drink. Ichiryu is shown as a funny, muscular, healthy old man putting on a flashy appearance who's kind of clumsy when it comes to memorizing ingredients' names. "What's flashy is your appearance, old man." Toriko asks him of what he'd want most at the moment and Ichiryu replies sarcastically that he's longing for the ultimate ingredient. Toriko was now sure the rumors about its closing appearance is true. Ichiryu tells Toriko that the legendary Acacia took on 3 disciples in his final days; Ichiryu, Jiro, and the Bishokukai's boss, respectively.

He says that Acacia feared that the ingredient that once led to peace, would one day be the fuel for a new war, and further states that everyone looking for it, including Toriko, is already fueling that war. And now it's up to him, Ichiryu, to stop that war, fulfilling his master's final order to him. He then finally tells Toriko of what he called him for; to see his face once more before heading out for the greatest job. He tells Toriko that the Four Heavenly Kings will be the support for the new age, but Toriko replied "I'm already fully supporting it. Let me inherit your goal, and take a rest, retired old man." Ichiryu then challenges Toriko to a friendly fight to measure his capabilities.

Hopping on water, Ichiryu takes a walk to an empty isle so as to avoid breaking his house from the fight. Starting the fight, Toriko threw his knifes at him, which Ichiryu just blows away. Toriko then tries throwing his improved fork, 13-Hit Nail punch, leg fork, and his leg knife, which all proved useless. He then charges at him with his One-Point Concentrated 13-Hit Ice Pick Nail Punch only to be stopped by Ichiryu's finger, showing how powerful Ichiryu is. "At least react to it a little..Dammit!!"

Ichiryu mentions that in terms of raw power, Toriko can enter Gourmet World, but in terms of surviving there, he has no chance; because of the climate and environment that the body needs to get used to. He then requests a job for Toriko which will serve as training for Toriko's environmental body adaptation; the Ozone Herb. "It's one hell of a tasty ingredient."
