The Human World is still facing crisis with Zebra’s release, with maps and forecasts done in preparation. Meanwhile, aboard the Lift House, Zebra started a fight with Toriko and ended up wrecking the house. With a month ahead to reach Sand Garden, Komatsu had no choice but to keep up with their meaningless fights. He browsed the Sand Garden Guidebook and was excited after finding out about the different kinds of deserts; Rice, Muscovado, Resource, and Jewel. Not leaving him a chance to relax, Zebra went up to pick on him again, asking if he’s being cocky. He told Komatsu to better think of him as an environment that needs adaptation, else extinction awaits him. Just when Zebra was about to start another fight, they reach Sand Garden. The moment they stepped outside the Lift House, it shattered into pieces.
Near the entrance, Zebra spotted a terrified guy, and went to threaten him for some food. Komatsu took the chance to speak with Toriko, and despite knowing Zebra will hear him, he let his thoughts out and told Toriko how he feels it’s a bad idea to travel with such a criminal like Zebra. Toriko agreed, and told him that it’s a give-and-take relationship, but also that Zebra isn’t such a bad influence on the world. Toriko and Komatsu wander alone in the hot desert looking for equipment as Zebra went elsewhere to get food. They came across a Sand Ice stand, and after eating, asked the owner for some equipment, who got them some Turbans and mantles, and a Perotcharm. He told them to seek a town north for some camels to move by.
Upon reaching, they found the town in ruins, with a Rental Camel shop which an old woman runs. She told them that the war between countries caused the town this mess. Zebra finally caught up with them, and as soon as he did, the townspeople jumped with happiness. Komatsu was confused as to why that is happening, and Toriko explained; after Zebra’s discharge, wars ceased to form counter-measures against him, which saved this town. Suddenly, Zebra left them and walked into the desert as if anticipating something; The 8-Tailed Scorpion showed up, and tried to eat a little girl, and the moment it tried, Zebra killed it with his Voice Cutter. Finally, Toriko tells Komatsu; the 26 species Zebra made extinct threw ecosystems out of balance, and deserved death. This all made Komatsu realize that he may have judged Zebra too soon.
