The Asura Tiger (阿修羅タイガー Ashura Taigā) is a gigantic mammalian tiger beast with three heads fused together and six legs that lives in the Underground Forest of the Gourmet World.

Anatomy[]

It is a giant yellow tiger with six legs and most notably three heads which are all fused together, giving it three mouths, four ears, three noses and four eyes. Each face has its fangs facing in different angles from the other, such as the far left head having its fangs face upwards, the middle head having its fangs face downward and oddly enough the far right head has its fangs facing opposite directions of both up and downward.

Behavior[]

It is a vicious and merciless creature, once it sets its many eyes on its prey it will pursue it relentlessly and if another predator attempts to capture its prey it will engage in an all-out fight against its opponent until only one is left standing, crushing anything in its path during the fight.

Powers and Abilities[]

Being a beast from the Gourmet World, it possesses incredible fighting power and endurance and is not at all affected by the intense gravity of the Underground Forest. It was shown to be very tough as it only received a small cut on its paw from Toriko's Leg Knife, afterwards it fought equally with a King Lander. However it was no match against the likes of Jiro who easily frightened it by using Intimidation Knocking, forcing it to flee.

History[]

The Reality of Gourmet World Arc[]

When Toriko's impatience leads him to enter the Gourmet World before his training is complete, he chooses to enter it through the Waterfall Basin of Life, which leads straight into Zabel Island's Underground Forest. Upon landing (after being attacked by a Breath Dragon) he is quickly overcome by the forest's intense gravity, but before he can act, he is confronted by the vicious Asura Tiger which plans to make Toriko its next meal. Luckily Toriko is able to release a Leg Knife on the Asura Tiger's paw; however, this only irritates the tiger and it quickly smacks Toriko away into the territory of a King Landler and an Air Tree. The Air Tree's unique air pressure and the King Landler's strength prove to be too much for Toriko and eventually the Asura Tiger returns to reclaim its prey. The King Landler is not willing to share its prey with the tiger and quickly attacks it, giving Toriko enough time to escape.[1]

Later, after Toriko is saved from a pack of Mamew by "Knocking Master" Jiro, the Asura Tiger and King Landler reappear and are still fighting each other. Finding them annoying, Jiro quickly settles down the two beasts with a powerful Intimidation Knocking, causing the two beasts to run away in fear.[2]

Cooking Festival Arc[]

When Toriko returned to the Underground Forest, both Asura Tiger and King Landler were fighting each other as they were doing last time, only to notice the young Gourmet Hunter appear before them whom they allowed to enter the Gourmet World.

Anime and Manga Differences[]

Manga - Anime

AsuraTiger2

Asura Tiger (Anime)

In the anime, the Asura Tiger is given more prominent yellow and white color scheme while in the manga and other media it is entirely yellow in color. The anime giving it a white underbelly and making the back of its legs and most of its lower face entirely white. There also a slight design difference in its eyes and brows. It also has several tufts of white fur growing out of its cheeks. Its overall new look makes it resemble a Bengal Tiger. However the games and merchandise have featured it with its correct color scheme and design.

Varieties[]

In the video game series, the Asura Tigers are shown to have a variety of different subspecies:

The Asura Tiger, along with the King Landler and the Mamew appear as enemies in the game Toriko: Gourmet Survival 2 along with numerous subspecies, such as the Yasha Tiger and the Shimen Tiger. The beast appears in one of the final areas of the Gattsuki Continent, along with other Gourmet World beasts that have been driven out and made their home there. In the game it is given a measured capture level of 48 to 53, most likely now being measured without taking Gourmet World's environment into account. Its subspecies are also shown to be stronger than it, the Yasha Tiger having a CLVL of 63~68 and the Shimen Tiger having a CLVL of 78~83, both having higher HP, defense and offense than the Asura Tiger.
