Girim is the main antagonist of Toriko the Movie: Bishokushin's Special Menu. He used to be the Gourmet Corp.'s Special Cooking Adviser.

Appearance[]

Girim Designs
Girim is a tall muscular man with sharp features and shoulder-length red hair which he keeps combed back; but most of it is unkempt near his neck. He also has a thin and long, pointy red mustache and eyebrows. He wears a very intimidating-looking suit of black spiked armor which completely conceals his appearance, with the exception of his hands and eyes. His most notable feature is a very large pair of demonic-looking wings on his back; whether these are natural or not remains uncertain.

Once he eats the Wolf Fire Dragon he gains its features; he has red sclera with yellow irises, his skin turns purple, and his hair now reaches down his back turned magenta. He gains scales and claws and his chest becomes orange like the Wolf Fire Dragon's underside. In this form Girim essentially looks like a mini-Wolf Fire Dragon. His Appetite Devil also becomes the Wolf Fire Dragon in this form.

When Girim was defeated, he reverted back to his true form which, similar to Jiro, is that of a frail looking slightly hunchbacked elderly man. He wears a blue gi with olive green belt and sandals. His hair turned gray though it still has a reddish tint. In this form he is seen using a cane when saying goodbye to Toriko and his group.

Personality[]

The Girim seen throughout most of the movie is a stern serious driven individual. He tolerates nothing impeding his ambitions and never holds back against any opponent not even someone as weak as Komatsu nor his former combo partner Ayame. He holds no loyalties to the Gourmet Corp., leaving them as soon as his goal was within reach, even though he was stated to be the longest-serving member. His main goal was to eat the Wolf Fire Dragon so as to gain the power to control all the worlds ingredients. In his past Girim was shown to be a caring Bishokuya who only wanted to eat good food. According to Ayame he became obsessed with having the best Full Course Menu which led him to join the Gourmet Corp. to get stronger. Though it's not outright stated as to why he became so obsessed he did promise to return to Ayame with the best tasting ingredient.

Powers and Abilities[]

Girim is quite the powerful individual, showing immense speed, physical strength, and endurance. His speed and reaction time are so fast that most attacks thrown at him were blocked by his bare hands. As testament to his strength, not only was he was able to block simultaneous attacks from the three Sous Chefs of the Gourmet Corp. in one move, he also blocked Teppei's Impact Knocking with one hand, broke Coco's Poison Sword with a kick, effortlessly broke Sunny's Hair Lock, and even caught Toriko's Nail Punch, was unaffected by it, and pushed Toriko's fist back to his chest with enough speed that some of the 'hits' connected with Toriko. All of his regular punches and kick have been shown to send opponents flying. The force behind his punches is so strong that they create gusts of wind that can reflect physical and non physical attacks e.g. Fragrance Bazooka, Impact Knocking: Well Done, Spatula. His endurance was so high that none of the attacks thrown at him, if they connected, seemed to cause any damage not even a direct hit from behind by Grinpatch's Breath Bazooka. His wings, which he can hide at will, grant him the ability to fly and maneuver through the air swiftly and with great agility. Once he consumed the Wolf Fire Dragon his strength and speed were increased exponentially such that; all of his punches seemed to be high power versions of his Flame Fist creating massive columns of fire once the connect with their target.

Fire Manipulation[]

Like Starjun, Girim has been shown to use fire type attacks. His fire attacks are shown to be blue, meaning they are of extremely high temperature and have been shown to melt stone leaving it glowing red. His flames are so powerful that when he charges for his attacks they give of strong vortices of wind. He is able to manipulate the fire into orbs, which he charges for bigger attacks, wisps, used for protection against smaller attacks, and even full barrier walls. Once he consumed the Wolf Fire Dragon he uses fire in conjunction with his speed to seemingly teleport.

Techniques[]

  • Burner Flame (バーナーフレイム Bānā Fureimu): Girim concentrates energy into a small orb in the palm of his hand that releases a burst of wind around him. He then raises his hand above his head and charges the attack as the orb grows slightly. Once fully charged Girim releases the attack towards the ground which creates a column of blue flames around him. The column rapidly expands into a massive plume that devastates anything it comes in contact with, even melting the ground on which he stands.
  • Flame Fist (フレイムフィスト Fureimu Fisuto): Girim surrounds his fist with fire and the punches his opponent. His immense power allows him to send opponents flying great distance as well as burning them.
  • Burner Spear (バーナースピア Bānā Supia): Girim conjures up a spear of blue flames that he throws at his opponent. Once it makes contact it leaves the foe covered in fire.
  • Burner Flame Fist (バーナーフレイムフィスト Bānā Fureimu Fisuto): After eating the Wolf Fire Dragon Girim uses this technique. From Girim's forearm to his wrist, fire lights up four times like a gas burner after which he throws the punch. It is shown to create a massive plume of fire; however, it was negated by Toriko's 100-Hit Nail Punch before its full destructive potential is shown.
  • Autophagy (自食作用オートファジー Ōtofajī): Like Toriko, Girim can use Autophagy. It was shown that he fasted throughout the whole movie so that his Autophagy would activate, allowing his Gourmet Cells to evolve when he consumed the Wolf Fire Dragon.
  • Flame Wall (Unnamed): Girim creates a solid wall of blue flames to block an incoming attack. He can create two at the same time to block attacks coming from different directions.

History[]

Golden Wheat Arc[]

Girim makes a brief appearance at the end of this arc and appears to still have his rank as Special Cooking Adviser and has not defected yet from the Gourmet Corp.. He encounters Yuu with the recently captured Infini Bee at the Gourmet Corp.'s Gourmet World HQ. After a formal greeting, he compliments Yuu's capture and mentions how he appreciates the nice sound the Infini Bee's wings make saying that its sounds like it could escape even now. Yuu then assures him that the bee will be stored in a high security area until further investigations are completed. Yuu then excuses himself and walks off while Girim stares on at the captured Infini Bee with malicious intent.

Anime and Manga Differences[]

Movie character scan

Girim's color scheme in the artwork.

While Girim does not appear in the manga, he was designed along with Ayame by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro himself. In his official manga artwork by Shimabukuro, Girim's armor is depicted as being orange rather than black and his wings are pink and angelic rather than black and demonic.
