The Gorgops (ゴルゴロプス Gorugoropusu) is a giant gorgon-like beast with a capture level of 42 residing in the depths of the Gourmet Pyramid.

Anatomy[]

Gorgops' Teeth Eps 63

The Gorgops's vicious maw.

The Gorgops is a giant beast that can grow to be around 22 meters in height, and when fully grown it can weigh up to 18 tons. It is a rotund bipedal creature with a single large eyeball and mouth with multiple fanged mandibles. Like the legendary gorgons, the Gorgops has numerous one-eyed cobras growing from the top of its head.

Behavior[]

It is apparently a hostile and territorial creature that does not take kindly to unwanted guests entering its domain.

Powers and Abilities[]

Its full abilities are unknown, but having a capture level of 42, it is likely a capable fighter much like the rest of the beasts in the pyramid.

As Food[]

It is a 'specially cooked ingredient' and must be killed in a certain way before its meat becomes edible, otherwise it will taste horrible. According to the hieroglyphics in the pyramid, its hair snakes must be removed before it becomes tasty. It can even be eaten raw.

History[]

Mellow Cola Arc[]

A Gorgops is the first creature Toriko and Zebra encounter in the Gourmet Pyramid. They quickly kill it before it is able to even fight back, and later they are shown to have eaten it to regain their stamina.

Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • In the anime, its face remains relatively the same except for a slightly more prominent maw; however, its entire body is given a complete design overhaul. Rather than being a biped with claws, it is shown as a quadruped with paws; a feline-like body and thinner waist, and now it has snakes growing out of its back and even has a snake for a tail.

Trivia[]

  • Its name is a portmanteau of "gorgon" and "cyclops."
