Hana (鼻 (ハナ)) is a Chain Animal researcher under the employment of the IGO who works at the 1st Biotope's Gourmet Research Laboratory.

Appearance[]

Hana is man of average height who has apparently suffers several injuries in his line of work, likely due to attacks from escaped beasts. The left side of his face appears injured and wears bandages to cover it. He is also missing his left arm which he lost under very questionable circumstances. His face is mostly unseen due to the bandages and medical mask he wears. His outfit and apron are also covered in the blood of his test subjects.

Personality[]

Hana appears to be a calm man despite his line of work and the many accidents it entails. He is also an alcoholic, and his alcoholism has caused him more accidents than his line of work.[1]

Powers and Abilities[]

HanaLab

Being a Chain Animal researcher, Hana likely has an advanced understanding of biology and genetics, and uses this knowledge to help create new species of beasts that will make excellent ingredients and revive long extinct species as well.

History[]

Past[]

Sometime in his past, Hana, after a heavy night of drinking, became extremely drunk and ended up near some train tracks in his drunken stupor. Due to his dazed state, he ended up being hit by an oncoming train. Although he survived, he lost his left arm in the process.[1]

Regal Mammoth Arc[]

When Toriko and Komatsu arrived in the research lab of the 1st Biotope, they were welcomed by Hana, whose butchered appearance greatly alarmed Komatsu. Hana then led them into the lab but his time with them was cut short as a Muscle Crab had escaped from its tank, and Hana with the rest of the researchers fled.

Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • Hana's scene was completely removed from the anime, likely due to Toei's heavy censorship.

Trivia[]

  • Despite having been revealed as far back as Chapter 20, his name was not revealed until Volume 29.5.
  • His name translates as "nose".
