A Matsutake Shell (松茸貝 Matsutake kai) is the protective outer shell of an unknown shellfish. It is mainly used as soup stock ingredient and is very savory, it also tastes similar to matsutake mushrooms. It was one of the many ingredients used by Komatsu when he was recreating the Century Soup, although it is not known if this ingredient made it into the final version of the soup.
