Monchy is a sushi craftsman and a gourmet fortune teller who makes Ehou Makis that can give good fortunes. In the Gourmet Age, good fortunes are the locations of ingredients, so what Monchy's customers ask for is the direction towards the ingredient's location. He is the quintuplet brother of Nonchy and 3 other brothers. He is also a rather skilled chef who holds the 2714th spot on the IGO Chef Ranking. He runs the Fortune-telling Sushi Monchy restaurant.
Appearance[]
Monchy is a hairy old man with long black hair. The most notable feature of Monchy seems to be his lucha wrestling mask, which covers up the upper half of his face with holes for the eyes and the nostrils. He wears a standard sushi's craftsmen headband with a knot, around his head.
Personality[]
Monchy is a noisy and stubborn old man. Despite being a sushi craftsman and a fortune teller, he prefers that his costumers gather the components for their Ehou Maki and doesn't care what they do to get them and will show no interest in them, unless they gather all the ingredients he requests. He tends to insult people if they don't complete his requests even if it is missing a few components. He has a habit of calling his customers and the ingredients they gather "morons".
When he is making the Ehou Maki, he uses a wrestling ring and wrestling moves to prepare it and he will seem to don a determined wrestling persona while he's "wrestling" the ingredients.

Fortune Telling[]
Monchy is a fortune teller that specializes in ingredients. Unlike Coco, Monchy is always right on the mark. Monchy uses a form of divination that uses an Ehou Maki that points to the direction of a ingredient that someone wants to find; however, the type and amount of the components for the Ehou Maki will always change.
Wrestling[]
Monchy is also a somewhat skilled wrestler and knows several traditional wrestling moves along with some unorthodox ones, such as using a chair as a weapon. He tends to use his wrestling techniques to prepare the ingredients for his Ehou Maki.

History[]
Bubble Fruit Arc[]
Toriko visits Monchy to ask for the location of an ingredient inside the Shokurin Temple, and Monchy tasks Toriko to find a new fish ingredient for the Ehou Maki.
After Toriko catches the Madam Fish and returns, Monchy insults Toriko that he has acquired a small quantity of components and that he should get some vinegar. When Toriko reaches the Dodurian Bomb, Monchy is disgusted by the powerful odor of the ingredient when it falls off its branch.
Afterwards, he tells Toriko to get some Eco Nori so they can wrap the Ehou Maki in it. When Toriko gathers all the ingredients for the Ehou Maki, Monchy prepares to make it by setting up a wrestling ring and performing wrestling moves on the ingredients. After two whole days, he completes the Ehou Maki. He tells Toriko to follow it in order to get to the Shokurin Temple.[1]
Cooking Festival Arc[]
He is seen going to the Cooking Festival. He was chosen to give the signal of start of the fest with a shotgun. When he is called, he complains about how the announcer (Tina on the anime) badly says his chef ranking (even though his real ranking is incredibly low); Monchy apparently lost the concentration because of this and accidentally shoots his gun when he falls down and his head bleeds because of the damage (depicted in a funny way).
AIR Arc[]
A year and a half later, he was one of the many people who went to the World Kitchen to say their goodbyes to the Four Heavenly Kings and Komatsu before they set off to Gourmet World and he and his fellow chefs promised to cook all the ingredients that they send.
Epilogue[]
He is last seen attending the wedding of Toriko and Rin.
Anime/Manga Differences[]
- The scene when Monchy uses a chair to hit the Ehou Maki ingredient is not shown in the anime.
- When he accidentally falls on the ring at Cooking Fest, his head does not bleed on the anime.

- His voice actor also voices Nonchy.
