The Nuppeppo (ぬっぺっぽう, Nuppeppō) are a race of short, lumpy, blob-like beings that hail from the village of apparitions in Area 8 known as Hex Food World.

Appearance[]

The Nuppeppo are a short race of beings with a blob-like, bipedal, flabby body with several lumps and stubby limbs. Most Nuppeppo have droopy-looking faces with a flabby body and large brows that cover their eyes while others have almost no flabby traits but their eyes still appear quite narrow. So far only one Nuppeppo has been seen with one of its eyes open. They are one of the few denizens of Hex Food World to not wear clothing.

Behavior and Culture[]

They appear to be smart but are never shown speaking. Many are usually seen walking in the village which indicates that they like taking strolls. Like the rest of the villagers, they highly respect and revere Heracles and shared the dream of one day eating AIR alongside their fellow villagers.

History[]

Origin[]

Like the rest of the races within Hex Food World, the Nuppeppo are actually the descendants of ancient humans who were mutated by the Nitro many centuries ago after being injected with Gourmet Cells. These ancient humans would later establish a society in Area 8 and their descendants would become the many diverse races of Hex Food World.

AIR Arc[]

When Toriko and the others made it to Mappy's village, many Nuppeppo were seen walking about the village during their stay.

After the Four Heavenly Kings acquired AIR, a few Nuppeppos were seen accompanying the gleeful villagers of Hex Food World who had come to taste AIR and gave thanks to the kings for all their efforts.

Trivia[]

  • Nuppeppo are based on the undead Japanese yokai of the same name who were said to have a terrible odor that resembled rotting corpses and some believed that these creatures were actually living blobs of decaying flesh. Like the Nuppeppo seen in Toriko, Nuppeppo were said to have wanderlust and would often take random strolls through villages, towns and cities.
