The Tundra Dragon (ツンドラドラゴン Tsundoradoragon) is a very powerful dragon that stands on the edges of Ice Hell, attacking anyone that comes, earning it the nickname Watchdog of Hell (地獄の番人 Jigoku no Ban'nin).[1] It is a descendant of the Savannah Dragon.[2]

Anatomy

It is a humongous beast standing at over 85 meters in length and is easily around the size of a tall building, making humans look like ants in comparison to its great size. It has a white leathery hide and scales, and the entirety of its back is covered in blue vain-like markings that go from the top of its head to the tip of its tail. It also has faintly glowing yellow eyes. It also has very sharp fangs and numerous horns growing on the bridge of its snout.

Behavior

It is a territorial beast that is very protective of Ice Hell and will attack any and all invaders who try to climb the icy steeps, even at the cost of its life. Once angered it will fight on relentlessly until it or its attacker falls.[3]

Powers and Abilities

Instead of fire, the Tundra Dragon breaths an icy mist. This guardian of Ice Hell spews such large quantities of mist that it creates its own blizzard, freezing the immediate surroundings. Even superior thermal gear cannot ward off a Tundra Dragon's breath, and anyone unlucky enough to encounter one will next find themselves at the fiery gates of hell.

It would not flinch even in a blizzard at -50°C.

History

Century Soup Arc

When Toriko and the rest arrive in Ice Hell, they come upon a massive Tundra Dragon guarding the edge which greatly frightens Komatsu and most of the weaker Gourmet Hunters.[4] However upon closer inspection they realize that it was frozen solid and had been dead for quite some time, leaving them to wonder who could have pulled off such a feat of killing a Tundra Dragon.[5] It is later revealed that it was killed by the vice chef of the Gourmet Corp., Tommyrod, who used its body as shelter until his comrades arrived.

Four Beast Arc

When the Four Beast, Mounturtle enters the Human World, it destroys everything in its path including the entirety of Ice Hell. It is unknown what became of the Tundra Dragon population there after that.[6]

Variations

In the video game series, the Tundra Dragon is shown to have a variety of different subspecies:
