Yamatako Orochi (ヤマタコオロチ), the Octopus King (蛸王 Shō-Ō), is the strongest octopus and one of the powerful Seven Beasts who rule over Area 6 below "Whale King" Moon.

Appearance[]

Yamatako Orochi is a gigantic cephalopod with numerous long tentacles that have snake-like heads on their tips.

Personality[]

Not much of the Yamatako Orochi's personality is known.

Powers and Abilities[]

Being one of the Seven Beasts, Yamatako Orochi is one of the strongest beasts in Area 6, and with a capture level over 4000, it is truly a beast of tremendous strength worthy of being considered a member of the Seven Beasts.

Being a living Back Channel, there is a time dislocation between the time of the outside world and the time inside Yamatako Orochi of 1 to 360. In other words, one day on the outside equates to one year inside Yamatako Orochi. Because of this time dislocation, Yamatako Orochi, in turn, has the native ability of being immune to Moon's power.[1]

History[]

At some point in the distant past, ANOTHER nested within Yamatako Orochi and its savoriness affected the octopus' legs.[2]

ANOTHER Arc[]

Jiji revealed to the Four Heavenly Kings' Support Group that a leg from the Yamatako Orochi was the mineral they needed to produce the "Ladle" of the Golden Cookware.[2] One of the Gourmet Knights spent 10 years retrieving a leg from Yamatako Orochi.[1] Successful the knight returned to Blue Grill.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The Yamatako Orochi is the work of Yonekura Takeru-san from Kanagawa Prefecture.
  • Its name comes from the Yamata no Orochi, a legendary dragon from Shintoism that had eight heads.
  • Considering its species, it may also be based on the legendary Kraken, a giant sea monster often depicted as a monster squid or octopus.
